Real Warri Pikin, while addressing the backlash, admitted that she had “jumped into conclusion” and said she understood why some people were concerned by the incident.
“Nigerians should take it easy on me, I’m really sorry. I take full responsibility for my actions,” she said.
She explained that the incident occurred during Timaya’s performance at the AfriMan Awards in Dallas, where she had been invited on stage after asking for a female performer to join the singer.
According to her, she initially resisted when Timaya asked her to participate in the stage act but eventually agreed.
She said the moment was entertaining while it lasted, with people at the event laughing, but admitted that the reaction online was different.
“Yesterday was very entertaining on stage. Everybody dey laugh. But online, it was not funny,” she said.
The comedian said she had received several comments from Nigerians questioning the appropriateness of the interaction and joking about her marriage.
She, however, insisted that she remained committed to her husband and would not allow the incident to affect her marriage.
“I will be a plaster for the marriage until the kingdom comes,” she said.
Real Warri Pikin also clarified that she did not believe all the criticism came from a place of hatred, noting that some Nigerians were genuinely concerned about her.
“Not everything is hate speech. Some people are just genuinely concerned because, ah, you are already picking,” she said.
She subsequently apologised to those who felt uncomfortable with the incident, asking Nigerians to understand the circumstances surrounding the stage performance.
